Privacy in NOMES

Updated on 26 October 2026

Summary

NOMES has no account, no ads, no third-party analytics and no tracking. The game against Nhô Lobo works offline. Rooms send only what is needed for everyone to see the same game.

What stays on your iPhone

The name you pick, your character and colour, the language, sound, haptics and motion preferences, your record and daily challenge against Nhô Lobo, and the draft of a game in progress. In solo mode none of this leaves the phone. Deleting the app deletes this data.

Nhô Lobo plays on the phone itself. Your answers are not sent to any artificial intelligence service or used to train models, and no AI decides whether a word counts.

What goes to the server in rooms

When you create or join a room, private or public, NOMES sends:

  • the name you chose, your character and colour;
  • a technical player identifier and an account-free session token;
  • the room code and rules;
  • the answers you write, challenges, reactions and scores;
  • the connection state, to recover an interrupted game;
  • when someone reports: the answer, the player, the room and the date;
  • when someone blocks: who blocked, who was blocked and the date.

What it is used for

Only to make the game work: everyone sees the same table, can rejoin after a network drop and gets the same results. We do not use this data for ads, marketing, commercial profiles or tracking across apps and sites.

Your name and answers are visible to the other players in the same room. In a public room, these are people you don't know. Don't use your full name or write personal information in your answers.

Safety and moderation

Before a name or an answer appears in a room, the app and the server block evidently offensive content. This filter does not decide whether a word is valid for the letter or category.

During correction you can report an answer; the report stays pending for support to review and does not change the vote. You can block any player for yourself: you stop seeing that person's name, answers and reactions, and “Play with people” won't put you together again. In a public room, anyone blocked by most of the other players leaves the room and cannot come back. In a private room, the person who created it can remove and block a player. The app asks for confirmation before reporting or blocking.

Insults, harassment, threats, incitement to violence or hatred, and sharing personal or private information are not allowed.

What we don't ask for

NOMES does not ask for an email, phone number, password, contacts, photos, location or microphone, and does not record audio.

Where the data is kept

The room service runs on Fly.io, on one machine and an encrypted volume in Amsterdam. The database is backed up to a private Tigris bucket. The connection uses HTTPS and secure WebSocket, and the server does not store tokens in plain text.

Your IP address passes through the server to route the connection and limit abusive requests. NOMES does not store it in the database or link it to answers, and the app does not write names, answers, tokens or reports to the technical logs.

How long we keep it

  • Rooms and answers: deleted 24 hours after the room goes idle.
  • Account-free sessions: deleted after 30 days without use.
  • Reports and blocks: deleted after 90 days.
  • Backups: up to 7 days on Tigris and up to 5 days in volume snapshots.

Cleanup runs by itself, even without new games.

Children

NOMES does not seek to collect personal data from children and requires no account. We recommend a name that does not identify the person outside the game. A child should play in rooms with the knowledge of a responsible adult, preferably in private rooms with people they know.

Contact

NOMES is a game by Fresku Games, the game studio of Atum Fresku. For privacy questions, or to ask us to delete data that still exists, write to us through the contact form. As there is no account, we may need the time and the room code; don't include tokens or full answers in your message.
