Getting started
There is no account. The first time, you pick the language, see the “How to play” guide and choose your name and character; they are saved and you change them by tapping your name on the home screen. The guide is always in Settings › How to play.
A room won't connect
Check that everyone has internet and the latest version of NOMES. In a private room, the host shares the lobby code and the others use “Join with code”. If the network changes, return to the app and wait a few seconds. A room idle for 24 hours disappears: create a new one.
“Play with people” doesn't start
A public room needs at least two people playing in the same language. It starts 20 seconds after the second one joins, or 5 seconds after it fills up (6 players).
STOP is locked
STOP can only be called after the time the room picked (10 or 30 seconds). Press and hold the button to finish. If the room is set to “No STOP”, everyone writes until time runs out.
Correction
Answers appear one category at a time, without names. Tap an answer to challenge it. When time runs out, everything the majority of the other players didn't challenge counts. Answers that don't start with the letter are out automatically.
Report and block
During correction, “Report” sends the answer to support for review; it doesn't change the vote. Next to each player's name, in the lobby and in the round result, the hand-with-a-line button blocks that person for you only: you stop seeing their name, answers and reactions, and “Play with people” won't put you together again for 90 days. In a public room, anyone blocked by most players leaves the room. In a private room, the host can remove and block.
Leaving a game
Use the X at the top and confirm. Your profile stays saved. In a room your seat is freed; if the host leaves, another player takes over.
Sound and accessibility
In Settings you turn sound effects, music and haptics on or off, and reduce motion. NOMES supports Dynamic Type and VoiceOver.
What to include in your message
- the NOMES version, iPhone model and iOS version;
- whether you were in solo mode, a private room or playing with people;
- the screen and the steps leading to the problem and, if you can, a screenshot without personal data.
Don't send tokens, codes of rooms still in use, full answers or other players' data.
